A quick note about the assholes. We will stop serving you if you are disrespectful of us or our customers, or if you act like a troll. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who makes disparaging, disrespectful or threatening comments online or in-person.

At the Clothes Cult, we offer clothing, accessories, and small home goods from the 20th and 21st centuries. Aside from deadstock and new with tags (NWT)/ new old stock (NOS) items, everything we sell is preloved. There may be signs of wear consistent with the item’s age, minor flaws, patches or small repairs, etc. We love sustainable fashion, and we offer items in the condition we’d feel comfortable purchasing for ourselves, which typically means free of major flaws, stains, holes, or structural instability.

Use our size guide to see how we measure garments. We will include the tag size if it’s provided, but these are woefully unhelpful for assessing a garment’s actual fit. Measurements are your new best friend.

If you are new to shopping vintage/preloved, we recommend that you measure your favorite closet staples and keep those handy as you shop. This will be more helpful than having your body’s measurements, trust us! It’s actually industry standard to measure garments on a flat surface. This is how we, retailers, and sewists do it, and now you will too! Doing this will give you a clear sense of size and whether any item will fit you as you like, be it from us or anywhere else in the world.

Shipping is calculated at the time of purchase. All costs for shipping and handling are the responsibility of the buyer, unless otherwise noted. We select the least expensive shipping option. First-time orders can only be shipped to an address which we are able to verify independently.

Our packaging is sustainable whenever possible. We reuse tissue paper, ribbons, and other packing materials to adhere to a more sustainable lifestyle. Your items will be protected from the elements during transit.

We ship items within 5 business days of purchase. We track outgoing shipments and provide the tracking number and carrier. Once an order has shipped and is scanned by the postal service, we are no longer responsible for lost, stolen, misdelivered, or damaged packages. In these types of situations, contact the shipping service to resolve the issue. We also suggest contacting neighbors if there is any chance the item was misdelivered—we’ve seen some great rescues with this method!

If there is an issue with shipping that is our fault, we will absorb any of the costs necessary to get the order delivered.

We are happy to ship your items around the world, as long as there are no postal restrictions or customs issues. Contact us to make arrangements for international shipping.

If you shop with us frequently, you may want to consider a flat-rate, prepaid box option. Not only is it fun (trust us—we shop this way ourselves with other sellers!), it reduces our collective environmental impact by limiting the number of packing materials and resources needed for multiple shipments. It is also more economical for you as a consumer. Once you’ve paid the shipping and handling rate for the box, we will fill it with items (pay for the items as you go) until it reaches capacity or you are ready for us to send to you.

The construction, fabrics or materials, pigments, dyes, trims, and other adornments are inspected, and known issues are shared. Please read descriptions and review photos thoroughly, as all items are sold as is and all sales final. We cannot guarantee an item's longevity or durability.
